Forced Displacement Working Group (FDWG) – Fourth Meeting| June 13, 2025

June 2025

We are pleased to host the fourth convening of the Forced Displacement Working Group (FDWG) on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Penn Washington (formerly the Penn Biden Center) in Washington, D.C.

FDWG is a collaborative platform uniting leading researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to address the urgent challenges of forced displacement and refugee integration in low- and middle-income countries. Convened by PDRI-DevLab at the University of Pennsylvania, the group fosters cross-sector collaboration to advance policy-relevant research, shape evidence-informed programs, and unlock new avenues for extramural funding.

This closed-door convening will feature panel discussions, lightning talks, and strategy-focused dialogue on topics such as:

  • Advancing durable solutions to displacement through evidence-informed policy and programming

  • Improving inclusion and social cohesion in contexts of protracted displacement

  • Strengthening systems for anticipatory action and climate-linked mobility

  • Mainstreaming protection and gender equity across humanitarian and development responses

  • Bridging data gaps and innovation in research methods, measurement, and forecasting

The detailed agenda can be found here.

FDWG convenings have included representatives from J-PAL, IPA, World Bank, UNHCR, International Rescue Committee, Stanford, NYU, UC Berkeley, and a wide range of local implementing partners across Africa, South Asia, and Latin America.

Launched in November 2023 in partnership with the Empirical Studies of Conflict (ESOC) group, FDWG has since held convenings in May 2024, November 2024, and now marks its fourth session in June 2025, deepening a global community of practice dedicated to advancing evidence and action on displacement.
