PDRI-DevLab will convene the 6th Forced Displacement Working Group Meeting on May 18, 2026, at the Enrique V. Iglesias Conference Center, Inter-American Development Bank, Washington, DC.
The Forced Displacement Working Group brings together researchers, policy experts, practitioners, and institutional partners working on forced displacement, refugee welfare, return and reintegration, self-reliance, mobility, and durable solutions. The meeting provides a forum to share emerging evidence, discuss policy-relevant research, and strengthen dialogue across academic, humanitarian, and development communities.
This year’s convening will feature two research panels, a policy roundtable, and a series of lightning talks. Sessions will examine return and reintegration, refugee self-reliance and welfare, displacement conditions, climate mobility, economic recovery, labor mobility pathways, and local integration. A dedicated roundtable on “Alternatives to Encampment: Refugee Settlement, Housing, and Local Integration” will explore evidence and policy approaches related to refugee mobility, housing support, rent subsidies, and regional models of refugee inclusion.
The agenda includes speakers and discussants from the University of Pennsylvania, Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank, International Organization for Migration, Georgetown University, Stanford University, Washington University in St. Louis, Innovations for Poverty Action, International Rescue Committee, and other research and policy organizations.
