Forced Displacement Working Group Meeting #7

Date: Friday, November 6, 2026
Location: Penn Washington, 101 Constitution Ave NW, Washington, DC, 20001
Organized by: PDRI-DevLab and the Mixed Migration Center (MMC)
Format: In-person, invite-only convening

This full-day convening will focus on pressing themes in forced displacement research and policy, including refugees’ right to work and economic inclusion, education and skills pathways, the experiences and agency of displaced women, climate displacement, and refugee self-reliance. A dedicated roundtable, “Climate Displacement and Policy Responses: From Migration Decisions to Inclusive Adaptation,” will examine how climate change and shifting migration policy shape household decisions, and how displaced people can be meaningfully included in climate action and adaptation planning.

The program will feature two thematic panels, “Right to Work and Economic Empowerment” and “Women and Children on the Move,” alongside the policy roundtable and a series of lightning talks on work in progress, new evidence, and partnership opportunities. Speakers will include representatives from the University of Pennsylvania, World Bank, Stanford University, Georgetown University, Dartmouth College, Women’s Refugee Commission, Refugees International, International Rescue Committee, Innovations for Poverty Action, Mixed Migration Centre, and other research and policy organizations.
