Climate and Land Governance

Faculty Lead: Heather Huntington

Climate change, environmental stress, and insecure land tenure threaten development gains and stability. PDRI-DevLab studies how climate risks, land governance, and institutional reforms intersect to shape economic and social well-being.

Our work includes:

  • Evaluating land registration and titling reforms and their effects on investment, equity, and gender dynamics.

  • Testing climate adaptation and resilience-building strategies.

  • Studying governance innovations that strengthen accountability and service delivery in fragile states.

  • Linking environmental stress to migration, displacement, and conflict.

We apply experimental and quasi-experimental methods, geospatial analysis, and remote sensing, in partnership with the World Bank, USAID, and Penn’s Weitzman School of Design.
