Heather Do

Doctoral Student | Human Development and Quantitative Methods

Hang (Heather) Do is a doctoral student in the Human Development and Quantitative Methods division at Penn GSE. Her research examines the long-term consequences of early childhood adversities on human development and explores protective processes that foster resilience in children and adolescents across global contexts. She aims to use research findings to create contextually relevant intervention programs, inform policies, and develop reliable resources that support children and their families.

At Penn GSE, she is affiliated with the RIPPLE Lab and currently supports Leveraging Early Adolescence for Development (LEAD), a project that focuses on strengthening communication, stress management, and social-emotional skills among caregivers and adolescents in peri-urban Ghana. Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked on disseminating the Caregiver-Reported Early Development Instrument (CREDI), a population-level measure of early childhood development for children from birth to age three; and evaluating an intervention program aimed at promoting high-quality early childhood education in rural Asia. Heather earned her B.A. in Psychology from Oberlin College and her M.Ed. in Human Development & Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
