PDRI-DevLab is hosting a Fall 2024 Seminar Series featuring its staff and affiliates.
Topic: Information Frictions in Job Descriptions
Presenter: Andelyn Russell
Session Details: Jobseekers in developing countries face a variety of information frictions that hinder labor market matching. In this project, I partner with a large Indian job board to examine an under-explored information friction — missing amenities on job descriptions — and potential reasons why this information friction persists. First, we measure the preferences of first-time jobseekers over amenities that are typically missing from job posts but that may be particularly important for this cohort and study context. We then conduct an RCT with firms to test whether providing information to firms can alleviate these frictions.
This session will be a seminar and participants are not required to read a paper beforehand.
