The second FDWG meeting explored how displacement-related research can inform anticipatory systems, community resilience, and inclusive programming in fragile contexts. With over 50 participants, the meeting featured:
Presentations on early warning systems for mobility linked to drought in the Sahel and violence in the Horn of Africa
Research on the impact of displacement on host-community tensions, and strategies to rebuild trust and shared institutions
Discussions on mainstreaming protection, gender equity, and local agency in evidence frameworks
Implementation challenges in collecting data across displacement-affected areas during crises
A cross-sector panel with donors, think tanks, and implementing partners surfaced lessons on timely data use, ethical fieldwork, and the need for institutional coordination across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus.
