PDRI-DevLab@Penn is in New York City today for the fifth convening of the Forced Displacement Working Group (FDWG), one of PDRI-DevLab’s flagship initiatives, held at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) headquarters and co-organized by IRC and Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA). The FDWG brings together leaders from research, policy, and practice to advance evidence-informed approaches to forced displacement.
Professor Guy Grossman, Co-Director of PDRI-DevLab, opened the session by underscoring the importance of coordinated evidence-building, particularly at a time when displacement trends and funding structures are shifting rapidly.
Today’s agenda focuses on some of the field’s most consequential questions:
How global funding realignments are shaping program strategy and design
Strengthening cost-effectiveness and value-for-money in displacement responses
Evidence-backed pathways to supporting self-reliance among displaced populations
Lightning talks highlighting emerging research, new collaborations, and forward-looking priorities

As a flagship initiative of PDRI-DevLab, the FDWG continues to serve as a collaborative platform for shared learning and rigorous, policy-relevant research aimed at improving outcomes for displaced and crisis-affected communities worldwide.
